The Problem: 2012 Ford Focus models built between August 2010 and October 2011 may be missing a seal on the wiring harness connector to the passenger-side wiper motor. Without the seal, water or other contaminants could accumulate in the connector, causing the passenger-side wiper motor to operate intermittently or not at all. This could reduce visibility, and increase the risk of a crash.
The Fix: The Andy Mohr Ford Service Department will gladly assist in fixing your Focus if it is affected by the recall. Ford will notify owners of affected vehicles on or around May 21, 2012, and Andy Mohr Ford will inspect, clean, and properly seal the wiper motor connection as needed. Customers can also contact Ford to see if their vehicle is affected at 866-436-7332. The recall campaign number is 12S29.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 140,310 Focus models manufactured between August 1, 2010 and October 18, 2011 are potentially affected by this recall.
